Correcting impression

Published: Thursday, 28 February 2013

WE WOULD like to correct a false impression that your headline, ‘NABO welcomes court decision', and some of the opening comments in that article may have caused, writes Simon Robbins.

For several years we have been asking British Waterways and now CaRT to make evidence based policy when it comes to boating terms and conditions and enforcement policy. Some of your readers will have seen the FOI requests we have made on this topic elsewhere. CaRT's agreement to publish details of some completed cases is the latest response to this persistent lobbying.

Coincidence

The fact that the handing down of judgement in Nigel's Appeal coincided with CaRT getting those completed cases published is a coincidence as far as we know and we are not aware that publication of the cases is as a direct result of Nigel's case.

Like many others we wish Nigel well of his success in Court, but we are still digesting the details of that judgement and are not rushing to reach conclusions about whether there are any wider implications for other boaters.
