Preparing for Cromford trips

Published: Wednesday, 27 February 2013

A LENGTH of the Cromford Canal at its terminus is to be cleaned-up in preparation for narrowboat trips.

The trip boat is expected to be horse-pulled, and will run from Cromford Wharf to High Peak Junction, with the work on the waterway starting next Monday, 4th March, Alan Tilbury reports.

Dredging

This is part of a £300,000 project, with the work including dredging and the cutting back of trees, as the shade from them is considered harmful to the wildlife and vegetation.

It is hoped the trips will introduce more people to the waterways.
