Boaters rally for George's

In A MASSIVE and heartfelt act of support for Danny George, his family and his business, George's Pork and Poultry at Audlem, boaters have started a pledge fund to raise money to purchase the 'shed', Graham Phillips writes.

This is needed to satisfy the requirements of both Canal & River Trust and the local Environmental Health Officers.

Depends on CaRT

This will enable this small business which supplies locally produced meat and vegetables to continue to offer the services much enjoyed by boaters and locals alike, providing of course that CaRT will reinstate Mr George's lease agreement.

Being that the whole country is currently in the grip of the 'horse meat scandal' it would be extremely comforting to know that boaters would still able to purchase such high quality locally produced products as sold by George's.

Overwhelming response

The fund started at 11am yesterday (Tuesday) 12th February, and has had an overwhelming response, for at 8.30 this morning (Wednesday) it stands at £680.00 of the £1,000 needed, less than 24 hours after it was started.

Addendum

It appears as though CaRT have blocked Danny Georges' Twitter Account, as he says it was only set up yesterday and he hasn't had an opportunity to use it, so don't know on what grounds. This follows a complaint by CaRT to Facebook which resulted in a post being removed from Mr Georges account a couple of days ago. This morning CaRT have requested another meeting with Danny George—we are hoping that the outcome will be positive.
