Marina for the Llangollen

THERE are proposals for yet another marina on the Llangollen Canal, this time on the Ellesmere Arm.

The arm is at present the scene of redevelopment of houses, shops and an hotel, with plans for a 188 berths marina at its terminus, though no planning application has yet been submitted, Alan Tilbury tells us. The photograph is of the former warehouse at the end of the arm.

Over supplied

The Llangollen Canal however has many marinas and moorings along its length, and is considered to be over supplied already, as well as being the most popular canal holiday destination.

There is the Blackwater Meadow Marina just half a mile from the one proposed, that is just outside the arm, whose owners must surely object to yet another, especially as it has vacant berths.
