Flood puts boat in field

AFTER the torrential rain of the past few days, as can be expected, many rivers and even canals are in flood, as the heavily soaked ground cannot take further water.

One narrowboat owner, was particularly unlucky, who thought the narrowboat safely moored with others on the Grand Union Canal near Stoke Bruerne, but no such luck, for the waterway was swollen by the inrush of water, and the narrowboat was swept over the towpath by the torrent into a field by the side of the canal, Alan Tilbury reveals.

Towe in flood

It was the Towe that was in flood, with narrowboats moored on the Grand Union between Stoke Bruerne and Grafton Regis severely affected,  being swept off the waterway into surrounding fields as the water rose well above the towpath.

The Grand Union was simply part of the flood, with only the A508 being seen as water covered the whole area.
