Time and money for wildlfe

THERE is a move to get people to give their time and make donations towards improving wildlife on and around the Chesterfield Canal.

Canal & River Trust wants to make the waterway more attractive to wildlife including birds, bats and insects, we are told.

Donating

It is needing people to help build habitats by either giving their time or donating money for materials, around the waterway and Harthill Reservoir, that feeds the canal.

Lucie Hoelmer, wildlife Project Manager for the CaRT explained:

"This is an important project that will make the Chesterfield Canal even more attractive to wildlife and hopefully encourage people living nearby to get more closely involved with protecting and improving their local environment.

In addition bird and bat boxes will be erected providing nesting points for birds and safe roosts for bats.
