Email: Easily funded

The breach at the Trent & Mersey Canal, which CaRT are desperately seeking funds to repair through donations could be easily funded.

As we have travelled the canal network for six months, we have noticed that a large number of ex BW barges are left on canal banks, usually half submerged and rusting, never to be used again.

The scrap value of the metal of these boats must be worth a considerable amount, and by removing them from the canal network, would surely enhance the system.

But then again we are mere boaters, not paid huge amounts in salaries and bonuses to sustain a canal network. We are the people who use the canals.
