Disillusioned Friend of CART

Published: Thursday, 20 September 2012

I recently took out a Friends Membership of CART as I thought that it might be a 'good idea' to support the canal network, writes David Probett.

This, despite my recent experience of a CART stall at the Slough Canal event where the representative well exceeded the definition of 'persuasive' and was well into 'chugger' territory.

Appalled

I am appalled at some of the reports of the behaviour and views of the CART 'management' reported on here; particularly the decision to issue a libel action against a continuous cruiser for, apparently, honestly held opinion based upon publicly available information.

I never envisaged my £5.00/month being spent in this manner.

I am considering purchasing my own narrowboat, and spending large amounts of my retirement cruising the waterways, even, possibly, joining the ranks of the continuous cruisers.

To date, I am not impressed with the management of CART. Hopefully, more civilised behaviour and common sense will come to pass.
