Water taxi for football fans

A NARROWBOAT is making trips along the Coventry Canal transporting football fans to the Olympic football matches at Ricoh Arena.

The narrowboat Coventrian is operated by the charity Living Environment Trust, and is making daily trips along Coventry Canal, from the basin in the city to the stadium by the side of the waterway further up the canal, calling at the wharf Swan Lane Wharf on the way, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Kitchen and bar

The journey takes 75 minutes from the basin and 40 minutes from the wharf, but is equipped with both a kitchen and a bar serving food and drink.

The Trust started running the service for home games a few years ago, and has taken off, with fans being transported to and from matches.  In addition, the water taxi service operates for concerts in the city, transporting the fans from pick-up points along the waterway.

During the Olympics  the Ricoh Arena has been renamed  City of Coventry Stadium.
