Whose is the sunken boat?

A FAIRLY new Sea Otter, Nook is sunk on the Middlewich Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal, with no one in the area knowing who owns it, David King writes.

It is just on the Middlewich side of Bridge 2, at Barbridge, about half a mile from the junction, on the towpath side. The boat looks a fairly new Sea Otter type of boat about 25 feet, light blue and black.

Held by mooring ropes

It is licenced until March, and is certainly not a scrap or abandoned boat. It was afloat there two days ago, but is now sunk well below gunwale level on the offside and is only held by the mooring ropes from going completely under.

I have informed British Waterways at Northwich, who say they will check and try to contact the owner. Unless very recent, it is not a 'local' boat as I and others I have asked have not seen it before in the area. It looks like someone may have left it there during a break in cruising.

I have no idea when British Waterway will check and if it was included maybe the owner will see it or someone who knows them will pass the information on?
