Possible manslaughter charge

HAVING read the comments with regard to the newly installed hazard to our heads at Falling Sands Lock I think it pertinent to make comment, writes Pam Pickett.

(Rod Fox's photograph shows the handrail support.)

Last year I'd popped up from the galley to bring the skipper a coffee and received an almighty shove for my efforts. I only forgave him this assault on my person when I realised I'd been about to hit my head on a particularly low bridge.

If it can it will

My grandfather used to say that if it can happen, then it more usually will, so preferably before we have a tragedy at Falling Sands Lock, please remove that dangerously obstructive handrail support, regardless of what colour it is to be painted.

It is a thought that should there be an accident before removal is effected; given the input from boaters received here, a charge of possible corporate manslaughter could be extremely difficult to avoid!
