Boater dies in fire

EARLY this morning (Sunday 15th) a cabin cruiser moored on the Avon in Bath caught fire with an occupant dying.

The boat was moored along the side of the river near Pulteney Bridge, when the boat burst into flames in the early hours, with a second person taken to hospital suffering from burns and smoke inhalation, Alan Tilbury reveals.

Still burning

Avon and Somerset Fire Service was alerted at 6.30am, and when the crew arrived the boat was still burning, but was quickly doused, though very badly damaged.

It was a fire service spokesman who told that one person had died and another was receiving hospital treatment.  The cause of the fire is not known, but will be investigated today.
