Rescued by lifeboat

LOUGH Erne in Ireland is so low that boaters are having to be rescued by the RNLI after their boats become grounded.

Two boats have become stuck on the bottom away from the side in two weeks, with five people having to be rescued off the last one, with the RNLI using a low draughted inflatable to get the people off their boats.

Still stranded

In both cases no attempt was made to tow the stricken boats, that are still stranded in the shallow water.

Waterways Ireland has warned boaters that there is a great possibility of grounding, and that boats should navigate near the centre of the channel and away from navigation markers.
