Doesn't want mooring

THE owner of a floating hotel has campaigned for years to get a mooring on the Thames in Henley, but now that he at last has been offered it—he's turned it down!

The situation arose after Andy Cowley owner of the African Queen had pestered the town council for four years after being banned from mooring on the river at Mill Meadows, with many heated arguments, Alan Tilbury reveals.

Council relented

But at last the council relented and told him that he could moor there, but the man has turned the offer down.

He claims that there are conditions that are unfair, and he particularly objects to having to pay in advance, with no refund if the mooring was not available.

Treated unfairly

Andy believes that though the council insist it wants to encourage local tourism, it hasn't shown this to him, but treated him unfairly.
