Warning students

FOLLOWING on the Bath authorities warning students of the dangers of the waterways after binge drinking, Leeds too is following the same example.

University students in both cities have perished in the waterways after attempting to walk home in the dark after heavy drinking, with Bath erecting posters and now Leeds giving out leaflets to new students.

Two drowned

At Leeds, two students drowned after nights out within the last few years, so the Leeds Riverside Safety Group has been issuing the leaflets in an attempt to warn of the dangers.

As is usual after a death, a call is made for fencing, and in one case railing were erected, but students are often seen either climbing or sitting on the railings, that are generally accepted as somewhat of a challenge for someone under the influence of drink.
