Waterside pub's £4,152 hygiene offences

FOOD hygiene offences have landed the landlady  of the Navigation Pub at Lapworth on the Stratford on Avon Canal in court after an inspection of the kitchen, following an earlier caution.

Altogether the offences cost Karen Parfrey £4,152, being a fine of £2,000 and costs of £2,152, after pleading guilty to eight food offences, Allan Richards tells us.

Unsafe food

The legal proceedings were brought against Karen by Warwick District Council, and relate to offences committed on the 13th October last year when she 'placed unsafe food on the market in that it was considered to be unfit for human consumption'.

However, Rob Chapleo, Divisional Environmental Health Officer pointed out that in this case the inspectors were confident that due to the co-operation of the proprietor since the inspection, and despite her earlier caution, the financial penalty would secure continued compliance with the regulations.

Another goes

The Tom o' the Wood at Rowington just South of the junction ceased trading yesterday last week-end, with no plans for it to reopen.

Speaking to bar staff late last week, Allan was told that trade had fallen particularly from walkers and boaters.
