Email: Stop the job!

Why were all boats stopped while the authorities searched for a lost child? [Searching the Weaver.]  Surely if any passing boats were hailed and asked to look out, it would have been extra eyes and ears on the search.

Once again we see the 'stop the job' mentality which besets almost everything these days. I say almost everything because it applies to canals and railways but hardly ever to our road network which is considered to be far too valuable to be hindered by such niceties.
