THE body of a bound woman was found in the Coventry Canal yesterday (Wednesday) believed to have been murdered.

The bound and hooded woman was found floating in the waterway near Bulkington Bridge (14) at Bedworth, just below the junction with the Ashby Canal, Alan Tilbury reveals.

Waterway closed

The waterway was closed by the police, with no boats allowed to pass the scene, with one boater describing how he saw a figure with what looked like a bag over its head.

Warwickshire Police undertook a minute search of the area, with a spokesman stating that  they were treating the death of the woman as 'unexplained', with an inquiry into the circumstances under way.

Missing woman

Though there is no confirmation of the identity of the body, relatives of the woman Emma Ewart, who disappeared from her Coventry home last Tuesday, are pestering the police to reveal the identity, with the police refusing to confirm if the body is that of the missing woman.

LATEST:

It has now been confirmed by the police that the body is that of 27 years old Emma Ewart, though a post mortem examination proved inconclusive as to the obvious cause of death, with further tests scheduled for next week.

She leaves an eight years old daughter.
