Make sure it's secured

BOATERS should always make sure their boats are well secured when moored on tidal waters, but one boater did not.

A narrowboat came loose from its moorings at Salters Lode on the River Great Ouse, with the high winds of last week pushing it onto a sand bank.

Stranded on board

It then needed fire crews to rescue the occupant who was stranded on board, the boat completely grounded. One of the fire crews launched a rescue boat, and with the aid of a gangplank managed to get the boater off the narrowboat.

The boat however was left, and eventually floated off the sand bank on the next high tide.
