Appreciating the countryside

MANY people took advantage of Castleford Heritage Trust, when it invited the townsfolk to join a series of trips along the Aire & Calder Navigation during the town's annual boat week.

Three boats from the Safe Anchor Trust were made available to community groups and schools for pre-booked cruises from Thursday to Saturday—but people were offered free trips at the weekend, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Paul Roberts, Woodland Access Ranger, explained:

"The boat trips were a great opportunity to see the countryside from a different perspective."

On the Sunday, people of the local towns  were invited to join a two hours trip to celebrate International Biodiversity Day as part of the £125,000 Fryston Woods Access and Improvement project.
