THE MACCLESFIELD CANAL was closed on the 16th May at Lock 12 on the Bosley Flight.
This was due to a boat being stuck on the cill, Keith Gudgin reports.
We are told that the trust is currently awaiting attendance of 'River Rescue' to remove the boat.
Tailgates damaged
But the tailgates have been damaged by the boat, that is not really understandable, for if the boat is caught on the cill at the back of the lock how can it damage the tailgates at the other end of the lock?
However pumps have now been installed to dewater Lock 12 to allow investigation and create a method of repair of the damaged tailgates.
There is no intimation as to when it will be completed and the navigation reopened.
