CYGNETS ARE BEING KILLED along the Erewash Canal at numerous places.

The Derbyshire Rural Crime Team told that an injured cygnet was found dead at Barker's Lock in Ilkeston.
With the team telling of online reports of cruelty towards a cygnet at nearby Ilkeston Football Ground by the canal.

There is also a report of another injured cygnet being taken in by a member of the public.
Police want to speak to witnesses who saw any of the injured birds, especially if recorded on a mobile phone.
