TWO MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT have given their support for the restoration of the Grantham Canal.
This was on a Local Authority Day, Janet Friend reports.
May 1st saw the MP's Edward Argar, and James Naish attend the event and take a trip in the societies' trip boat.
Met volunteers
They met volunteers and were shown work that had already been completed and were told about future project to get the waterway restored.
Councillor Robert Leadenham, chairman of Grantham Canal Partnership, related that their support would prove vital in helping to open doors with organisations to further the restoration.
In attendance at the meeting were representatives of Canal & River Trust, councillors from areas bordering the canal and Lincolnshire Police neighbourhood team.
Work party
There will not be a work party on Wednesday, the 20th May. With the next Western Base work party being on Wednesday, 27th May.
