More bridge strikes

THERE have been two more bridge strikes closing the canals.

Both on the Llangollen Canal caused by vehicle strikes, Keith Gudgin reports.

Engineers inspecting

One is on the main line line with Wrenbury Lift Bridge closed and engineers inspecting. The other is Nanney's Bridge on the Middlewich Branch, with again engineers inspecting.

During last year there was a scheme to install simple cameras that would automatically transmit such scenes as strikes, giving the registration of vehicles involved, so the cost of the repair could be put on the drivers, but it was not widely implemented.
