Two lock failures yesterday by failed sluices

TWO Waterways were closed yesterday, Thursday, by sluice failures.
The Tinsley section of the Sheffield & South Yorkshire Navigation and the Ouse were both closed, Keith Gudgin reports.
It was the failure of a sluice on Lock 4 on the Tinsley Flight that has caused only four boats allowed up and four boats down the flight at this time.
Contractors are expected to attend once more information is available.

The other failure yesterday was also due to a sluice, this time on the Ouse. (Pictured.)
This was caused by a burst hydraulic pipe on the upstream sluice of Linton Lock, at Linton-on-Ouse.
There is no intimation what will now occur in this case.
