Re-writing history

THERE was a somewhat made-up story in the Guardian yesterday extolling the virtues of the Manchester waterways, that had the look of CaRT about it, that somehow or other will not convince those of us who use them.

The story tells of the wonders of the Manchester canals by two 'operatives', but though the finding of two bodies in the Rochdale Canal is admitted, the article goes to great lengths to decry that there have been many bodies found or people attacked, which is what the article is about, as bad publicity of course casts a shadow over the canals and the city itself.

Many more

Alas there have been more bodies, and there was tell of a serial killer, though this too was decried in the article.  The attacks, including the young woman who was raped on the towpath by Canal Street was not included, and neither were those the little 'worse for wear' who had spent too long in the many bars along Canal Street, who climbed the low wall, fell over, hit the hard towpath and were killed.

Also not mentioned in the article was the reason for the high fence that was erected all along that wall, as seen in the picture above, for that tells a different story.

The facts are that many have been attacked and killed along the Rochdale Nine in the city, in some cases possibly because of Canal Street's homosexual connections. Others have been killed through their own stupidity.

They are the facts.
