Another landslip closes canal

OXFORD Canal is closed to navigation by a landslip.

The trust was alerted to a landslip in the Easenhall Cutting on the North Oxford Canal near Brinklow, reports Keith Gudgin.

Serious landslip

Upon investigation it was discovered that this was a 'serious' landslip having closed both the waterway and towpath.

Both are now closed 'temporarily to maintain public safety', but no intimation is given when they will be re-opened, though it is expected to be a while as the equipment needed is in great demand at this time.

As a more detailed inspection is being undertaken today, Thursday, perhaps more information will be given.

The great amount of rain has caused other landslips on the Worcs & Birmingham, Trent & Mersey and Staffs & Worcester.
