Weaver locks have to be booked

DURING the winter use of the Weaver locks have to be booked in advance.

This starts next Wednesday on the 1st November, but no booking between Sunday 24th December and Tuesday 2nd January, Keith Gudgin reports.

Five main locks

This includes the five main locks on the river—Marsh, Dutton, Saltersford, Hunts & Vale Royal locks, with bookings made through Canal & River Trust.

However, from Monday 13th November and Friday 17th November, navigation will be closed throughout the duration of the works on Vale Royal Small Lock Swing Bridge. (Pictured.)

The works involve removing the lock bridge pedestal which will be taken for a full overhaul and the installation of new gearing.
