Specialised equipment did not arrive

THE reason given for the delay in reopening Lock 5 on the Glasson Branch is non-delivery of specialised equipment.

It was supposed to arrive yesterday, Wednesday, but did not, though no excuse was given, so locks 1 to 6 are padlocked to prevent access.

Essential for clearing silt

This equipment is essential for clearing the silt that is currently obstructing the operation of Lock 5.

The locks were closed some three weeks ago on the 4th October with boats unable to reach the basin (pictured) from the Lancaster Canal.
