CaRT helped all it could

I realise everyone's experiences are different but I have to praise the CaRT staff in the Birmingham area from the waterways manager down, writes Lez Jordan.

My husband was diagnosed with cancer at the end of September 2013. At the time we were continuous cruisers, a lifestyle that came under threat because of his diagnosis.

Should not worry

I contacted CaRT and explained the situation and was assured that I should not worry, if I needed to overstay to just let them know, they would let enforcement know not to ticket me but if I did get a ticket to get in touch and it would be rescinded. The local workers in the centre of Birmingham were great, often when they were doing their clean-up with the work boat they would see if I had any rubbish to take away.

When it transpired that my husband's treatment would be prolonged I sought and obtained a residential mooring. There were a couple of 'hiccups' as I'm a slightly unusual case, I have two boats and a traders licence neither of which the 'computer' liked but again the staff went out of their way to sort things out for me. It was and still is a stressful time but CaRT gave me every assistance.
