Tinsley closed again

THE Sheffield & South Yorkshire Canal is closed again between Tinsley and Sheffield Basin, Mick Fitzgibbons tells us.

But this time it is not the pumps that have broken down unable to lift water to the top of the lock flight, but a Porta Cabin sunk in the canal close to the Bacon Lane bridge.

Plagued

This stretch of waterway has been plagued with problems it being closed in November due to pump failures, (Pump failure closes canal) then a replacement pumps also failed and now it is blocked.  As yet there is no official stoppage notice issued, so no indication when it will be cleared.
