Princess Anne names charity boat

HER Royal Highness the Princess Anne has named a new charity boat and opened a restored wharf for its use today (Wednesday).

She named the new charity boat  Pickles Folly, and opened the restored wharf at the South West Herts Youth and Community Narrowboat Project, at Hunton Bridge on the Grand Union Canal.

Disabled member

The building of the narrowboat, that will be used by families and groups with a disabled member, together with the restoration of the wharf to make it more accessible, were funded by a bequest from the late Graham Picket.

The new boat will join the charity's present community boat Dick's Folly, that will be available to youth and community groups for use on the waterway.

The project regularly organises over 100 days trips a year, with the boats available to all youth and community groups in return for a fee to cover running costs. For bookings, contact Janet White, during office hours, on 01923 224411.
