Not enough volunteers for event

THE Pershore River Festival held on the Avon has been cancelled at short notice, through lack of volunteers to help run it.

It was due to be held this coming Saturday, with boats on the river and entertainment on a nearby field but lack of volunteers is the reason given for its cancellation, though last year's event was popular.

Difficult

The organisers state that it will be held next year, but if would-be exhibitors and attractions have been cancelled it will be discovered to be very difficult to get them to risk it again.

Both Evesham and Stratford organise river festivals.
