CaRT can now concentrate

NOW that the government has seen fit to postpone Canal & River Trust taking over the Environmental Agency navigations, it puts a different aspect on matters, writes Jimmy Lockwood.

It can can concentrate on its main objective—looking after its canals and rivers!

Diverted attention

A transfer at this time, so soon after they became a new body, would have diverted its attention and might even have bankrupted the charity.

Eyes would have been taken ‘off the ball' and the costs of change would have magnified. There is no excuse now for not focussing on the key tasks.

So the CaRT management should just get on with the work in hand and maintain a structure that in places desperately needs more TLC!
