Kayaker went over weir

A MAN misjudged his position at Shiplake on the Thames whilst in his kayak, and drowned after being taken over the weir.

Michael Moore was last seen heading towards the weir, but his body was found way past it, face down in the water, near to where his wife and daughters were having rowing lessons, Alan Tilbury reveals.

Under water

He was dragged under water for minutes by the force of the stream over the weir, and was seen by two paramedics who were on holiday at the nearby campsite, who pulled him out of the river.

They attempted resuscitation before the ambulance arrived that took him to the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, where he was pronounced dead.

He had only been newly married this year, with the family having a day on the river.
