CEO should have a boat

IN RESPONSE to the news that the new Chief Executive Officer, Richard Parry hired a narrowboat, the feeling amongst some boaters is that he should own one, with Mark Tizard writing:

It is to be hoped that Richard Parry's passion for his new role will extend beyond hiring a boat for the weekend, as that doesn't impress.

Aware of costs

How good would it be to have a chief executive who owned a boat and used it so being aware of the costs of ownership, CaRT's challenges and the joys of boating.

Forget the car allowance they all have cars but give the directors a boat allowance!

Splendid point

Tug Wilson adds—Mark Tizard has got a splendid point! A boat would make perfect sense, and could be made available to CaRT employees and their families when not in use by the directors. Also, it should be without a bow thruster.

[In the past British Waterways had a narrowboat, named the Waterscape, but only certain people were allowed to use it and it was converted into a floating meeting room.  What has happened to it, no one seems to know.—Editor.]
