Towpath knife attack

A YOUNG girl has been threatened with a knife and assaulted on a Birmingham Canal Navigations towpath.

The 17 years old was walking along the Dudley No 1 Canal at Windmill End when a man grabbed her from behind, threatening her with a knife and assaulted her, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Walkers approached

It was only when other walkers approached that he released her, and ran off. The police would like to talk to the people who disturbed the attacker, and are asking them to come forward.

The man was described as being in his thirties and around 6ft tall, in camouflage gear and hat pulled down over his forehead.

Such attacks are fairly frequent in these dull and overcast days, even though the attack took place just before noon.
