King's Orchard progress

THOUGH the building of King's Orchard Marina on the Coventry Canal has been somewhat hit and miss, the latest progress is the completion of the bridge over the entrance.

It was some three years ago that work started on the marina, but it was just a big hole in May of this year, and even later, two months ago in September, there still seemed a great deal to be done, as Ralph Freeman's picture shows.

Start stop

It has been a stop start progress, but at the moment the towpath has been diverted to allow the foot bridge that has been partly built over the entrance to the basin to be completed, with a promised opening in Spring of next year.

From all accounts it will be an up market marina, being told it will have a number of Gold Service berths at an additional annual fee, with wider pontoons offering more space between boats, allocated parking and a private toilet and shower for the exclusive use of the boat owners' family and friends.
