A MAN on a mobility scooter went into the Thames at Abingdon Bridge, and drowned.

It is not known how it happened, but the man in his early 70's went into the river on his scooter on Saturday afternoon, Alan Tilbury reveals.

A boater

It was a boater who pulled the man out of the water, and alerted the emergency services, with an air ambulance landing on the nearby cricket pitch.

He was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital but later died.
