Email: Risk assessment

I would dearly love to see the Risk Assessment for the new guillotine on the Staffs & Worcs.

I shall be fully expecting narrowboatworld to request a copy of it via the Freedom of Information Act.  And then quite possibly enjoying the best laugh I've had in ages.

Also, narrowboatworld seemed a little grumpy about the latest phase of the Mon & Brec restoration?  Personally I'm pleased to see they got their funding.

What I do find frustrating is that, like the last multi-million restoration project on that canal (at Fourteen Locks), they are restoring a section that is not contiguous with the currently navigable section—so when the work is completed, no boats will actually be able to use it, and it will slowly begin to deteriorate again.

The problem appears to be that the section which they really ought to be doing next (from a navigation point of view) is 'Five Locks' at the current southern terminus, but the costing for that has been guesstimated at over £5 million—so they are doing cheaper (but useless in the short term) sections first.
