Outage again

Published: Thursday, 02 February 2012

MONDAY afternoon saw another outage to narrowboatworld, as again the server could not cope with the hits to the site.

This is the second time this has happened, the first being when the site went down twice whilst the poll asking whether Evans, Hales and Co should run Canal & River Trust, was open.

Allan Richards

This time it was Allan Richard's article that the government was about to give out information about Canal & River Trust that promoted such traffic to narrowboatworld.

With it known that the site normally has no updates on Tuesdays, the number of hits reduced, but still had a respectable number, shown as 27,906 as it was soon passed around the many forums that we had published the information from the government,

We have included the graphs showing the site analytics from our server, 1and1, who tell us:

Page impressions. The number of page impressions is displayed. Only fully loaded pages are counted. Individual page elements consisting of separate files (e.g. images or videos) are not counted. This includes all images and files with the extensions .png, .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .swf, .css, .class, and .js.

However we must point out that the number of page impressions include our own connections to the server.

Below is a graph showing narrowboatworld activity during January, as recorded on the 1and1 server:
