Long Horse Bridge delay

Published: Thursday, 04 August 2011

THE lifting of the new Long Horse Bridge over the Trent at Derwent Mouth has been delayed.

The contractor, May Gurney, will not be lifting the bridge during the week commencing 15th August as originally planned, but a week later during the week commencing 22nd August.

Replacement

This is the replacement single span steel bridge replacing the old concrete structure that had to be demolished eight years ago.  The refusal of Derby Angling Club to allow access coupled with the lack of cash caused most of the original delay.

As reported in narrowboatworld, the new bridge will be a multi-purpose footpath and bridleway.
