Punts on the River Great Ouse

IT WILL be just like being on the Cam at Cambridge, as punts will soon be available for hire on the River Great Ouse at Bedford.

The council are advertising for operators to provide the service along the river in the town, which could also include canoe hire, and would be operated from steps by the Town Bridge in the town, Alan Tilbury reveals.

Attract operators

Martyn Pearson, of the Bedford River Partnership, explained:

"We are looking to introduce leisure facilities on the river, and have been working in partnership with Bedford Borough Council, local businesses and individuals to attract prospective operators."

It is believed such an activity will encourage visitors to the town.
