POLICE are attempting to trace the last movements of a boater whose body was found in the Grand Union Canal at Cosgrove.

Post-mortem tests revealed that Robert Smith, who moored his narrowboat on the canal at Cosgrove, died from drowning, but did not know how he came to be in the water.

Posters have been put up and distributed in the area around the canal appealing for information, with Detective Inspector Stuart Hitchon revealing the police do not know how he came to be in the water.
