Employee failed to get cash

WHEN boat builders Starline Marine moved from Upton-on-Severn to Frome Hill near Great Malvern. one employee refused to move but lodged a claim for compensation.

David Sprason, aged 72, would not move to the new larger premises but resigned from the company, then lodged a claim for compensation, which was heard by a Birmingham Employment Tribunal, Alan Tilbury reveals.

There was work for the man as the company has expanded its narrowboat building operation taking on more employees. Starline Marine has successfully opposed the compensation claims by the former employee, with his claims for constructive unfair dismissal and breach of contract being rejected by the tribunal.

David Sprason's compensation claims were for constructive unfair dismissal, alleging  the firm's move caused him to resign.
