IT WAS IN MARCH of this year that Wigan Flight on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal was closed by a disconnected paddle at lock 70.
That took quite a while to repair, Keith Gudgin reported.
But now the flight is closed again with navigation stopped on the flight from Lock 65 to Lock 85.
We being told that this is due to damaged cills at Lock 70 and Lock 75, with the team having to dewater the affected locks to allow it to investigate and create a method of repair.
Lee Navigation
Tottenham Lock 17 has lost power to both upstream and downstream gates.
As these are out of action a full lock closure is in place, with engineers due to attend as soon as possible.
Rushall Canal
Rushall Lock Flight on the Rushall Canal is now closed.
The trust tells that water levels across the Rushall Canal are currently critically low.
Ongoing misuse and suspected vandalism are contributing to significant overnight water losses, resulting in levels falling to an unsustainable position, it adds.
Bradley pumps have been operating at full capacity for over two weeks, with limited improvement.
Rochdale Canal
The paddles at lock 20 have failed on the Rochdale Canal, with the offside head paddle jammed.
There is also a problem with the rack on the towpath side paddle. So the lock is inoperable.
