N ADDITION TO THE PADDLE failures on the Rochdale Canal there has been a further one this time on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal.

This too has seen two recent paddle failures, Keith Gudgin reports.

With a paddle failing last month and the one now on Lock 24 East.

Paddle mechanism failure

This time we are told the lock has suffered a paddle mechanism failure, with operatives attending the site and established that it will need stop planks putting in place to allow this to be repaired.

With the lock having to be dewatered this points to it being an intensive procedure and could take several days in its repair.
