WITH WORK TAKING PLACE AT Aspley Basin the water in the basin has had to be lowered.

It is caused by contractors working on the wash walls in the marina, Keith Gudgin reports.

The basin is by the junction of the broad and narrow canals and the water has been lowered to allow work to proceed at the marina.

Turned off

The water feed has been turned off to stop water flow into the basin whilst the work is carried out, and at the same time the trust is attempting to re-fill pounds 3 and 4 where it tells vandalism has caused the water to drain from the pounds.

To give the water levels the best chance of recovering, without affecting the contractors' work, the navigation is closed.

There is a chance the water levels will have raised enough so that navigation can be reopened any time now.
