walsll locks cAnd the navigation reopened, Keith Gudgin reports.

It was on the 20th February that rubble was discovered having been tipped into the canal, with a team being sent to clear it. But it was found to be far too much for them to handle.

What proved to be a load of rubble was dumped behind the gates of Lock 3, it stopping the gates being opened.

Cleared

But this has now been cleared and the navigation reopened.

This is something of a worry as fly tippers are always looking out for more sites to dump whatever they want to get rid of, at no cost to themselves.

It is hoped that the canals are not found to be so handy, as many have access for vehicles.
