THERE ARE CURRENTLY a number of stoppages were either work is being undertaken or awaiting inspection.
Leeds & Liverpool Canal
Bar Lane Swing Bridge 197 on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal failed due to a fault with its electrics. It was closed on the 30th of November, Keith Gudgin reports this and those below.
The contractor has advised that parts are currently on order and should be available within the week. Then a road closure has to be arranged to allow the repair to be carried out.
Calder & Hebble Navigation
Ganny Lock 10 on the Calder & Hebble Navigation was closed on Sunday 7th owing to an obstruction stopping a gate on the lock working.
The trust tell that its team has attended Ganny Lock morning but has been unable to dislodge the obstruction.
A team of divers is now required to remove the obstruction with the lock remaining closed until they attend and carry out the work.
Rochdale Canal
Lock 88 (pictured) was closed owing to a fault with an head gate paddle, with the frame also needing attention.
The trust's team is continuing work on repairing the head gate paddle, including replacing the full frame around the paddle.
The navigation is closed at lock until the repairs are completed.
North Stratford Canal
A void appeared behind Lock 10 wall on the North Stratford Canal that closed the canal on Monday 8th.
An engineering team have now inspected the paddle culvert and identified damaged brickwork that caused the void.
The trust tell that arrangements will be made to carry out the necessary repairs.
